New Radishes EP "Strychnine" Comes out 4/15/08!! - April 14, 2008

April 15, 2008 is the official release date for the Radishes' new EP "Strychnine."

The 4-song disc features legendary underground bassist Paul Barker (Ministry, Revolting Cocks, USSA), iconic indie drummer Rey Washam (Steve Albini, Scratch Acid, Ministry) and guitarist Wayne Kramer of seminal proto-punk Detroit rockers the MC5.

Wayne Kramer's blistering guitar lines on the Lennon cover 'I Found Out' have fans declaring The Radishes' version as superior to the original even though it was recorded live on the first take. The almost eight minute track has the cacophony of Sonic Youth and the sludge of The Melvins while retaining the raw emotion of early solo Lennon. It has also become a favorite at live shows.

Produced and mixed by Scrote

Radishes at OnTheRox, SXSW; new EP; new video - March 9, 2008

Hey all, just a quick note to let everyone know about a couple of shows we have coming up, plus the new EP, plus a new video for Hook Me Up (featuring actress Shelly Cole!) from the Good Machine CD.

SHOWS:

March 11, 2008, 9 PM @ On The Rox, 9009 W. Sunset Blvd., Hollywood (www.myspace.com/ontheroxsunsetstrip)
- FREE show with Yves Klein Blue (www.myspace.com/yveskleinbluemusic) from Australia

March 15, 2008, 8:50 PM, Bourbon Rocks Patio (SXSW 2008), 508 E. 6th St., Austin, TX (http://2008.sxsw.com/music/showcases/date/2008-03-15.html)
- This show should be amazing. We're playing with seminal all-female British punk band The Slits, an Iranian metal band, an Israeli punk band, and a rock band from Paris. Either world peace or a very diverse riot will ensue.

NEW EP:

The new EP, "Strychnine," that we recorded with Paul Barker, Rey Washam and Wayne Kramer is right this minute being pressed at some manufacturing plant in greater los angeles. It'll have 3 new Radishes songs plus a face-melting cover of John Lennon's "I Found Out" that we pretty much recorded in one 8-minute take. Official release date is tax day, 4/15, but look for a free download version in upcoming weeks....

NEW VIDEO:

Tired of watching Killers & Romans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtQnBDekoc0) and Matter of Fact (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6RCJ1e4Emw)? I know, neither are we.... Still, the song "Hook Me Up" from Good Machine got such positive response we decided to put together another vid for it featuring Shelly Cole (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0170778/) and me running around hallways and writhing on the floor and stuff. Check out the YouTube link under "links" here on the website.

Thanks to all who have been coming out to our shows and supporting us and otherwise being bitchin!

Fab Mab Reopening - September 20, 2007

The Radishes were lucky enough to be the first band to take the stage at the grand reopening of the fabled Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco. Check out the SF Weekly article at: http://www.sfweekly.com/2007-09-19/music/punk-rock-s-nine-lives/

Wayne Kramer + Paul Barker + Rey Washam + The Radishes = ? - September 5, 2007

The Radishes are very excited to have had the opportunity to work with Wayne Kramer of the MC5 on their latest EP, tentatively titled Strychnine. Wayne was gracious enough to sit in on the sessions (which also included Paul Barker on bass and Rey Washam on drums) at the Carriage House in L.A. Keep your ears out for Wayne's unmistakable playing on the new Rads song "Strychnine" and a Melvins-esque cover of John Lennon's "I Found Out."

THE MINISTRY OF RADISHES - July 21, 2007

The Radishes are very pleased to announce that they will be going back into the studio in August with Paul Barker and Rey Washam, the rhythm section of legendary industrial band Ministry. Paul and Rey are also both legends in their own right. In addition to being a core member of Ministry for the entirety of its dark and heavy period, bassist, engineer and producer Barker is also a founding member of Revolting Cocks with Al Jorgensen and Jello Biafra, has also been a key player in seminal underground bands like Lard and 1000 Homo Djs, and does engineering and production work on his own for bands like I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness (check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Barker).

Drummer Rey Washam has also attained cult status for his work with Scratch Acid (one of Rad Paul's faves), Rapeman, Ministry, Helios Creed and many others (check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rey_Washam).

Scrote will be wearing the most hats yet on this project, playing guitar, mixing and producing, all while editing the Killers & Romans video. We suspect that he is actually a robot.

The Radishes/Ministry collaboration will probably involve 2 or 3 new Radishes originals as well as a twisted cover of John Lennon's "I Found Out." More news to come soon . . . .
